Summer Blooms

Amazingly enough, despite having little to no time to maintain the amazing landscaping in our yard (courtesy of the previous owners, who, while having terrible choices for the interior of the home, were fantastic with the exterior...), the beautiful flowers are returning in full force.  They are just beautiful these days with summer in full force here in the mountains!

Fun Gifts and Lasting Memories...

Uncle Andy sent Natalie the beautiful, embroidered dress she wore for Father's Day, receiving blankets (including the only pink ones she has!), and this fantastic handmade card to welcome her into the world...
Natalie's Great Aunt Deb, Great Uncle Mark, and 2nd cousins (is that right??) Allison & Melissa sent her these wonderful keepsake baby shoes!

Thank you for these great keepsakes from her arrival!  -L

Doctor's Orders...

So...NO KIDDING!!  We had Natalie's 2 month doctor's visit yesterday.  She is 7 lbs 9 oz, but the pediatrician is concerned that she is not gaining as quickly as she should, either weight or height (head growth is doing well, however...).  So, to correct for these concerns, we are supplementing each feeding with formula and also increasing my milk supply.  So...she says to do this, BEER (and stout ones at that) is the only immediate way to increase supply...WHAT?!?!  The other option (that does not kick in for a little bit) is to take 15 (yes, 15) fenugreek pills EACH DAY.  While I do not like beer, I will take one beer and immediate results over 15 pills each day!  So, after the appointment we made 2 stops-first Walgreen's for infant tylenol (Natalie had her first big round of shots and really did VERY well) and then to the liquor store for my "prescription."  Amazingly enough, the guy at the liquor store had just read an article about the oatmeal stout beer above and how it was created specifically to increase milk supply...I had no idea!!  As we were checking out, we questioned if this purchase should be coming out of our grocery or medical expenses budget?!?!  So, for my friends out there who are breastfeeding...here's medical advise to drink a BEER!!

The first manicure...

Snugglebug got her first "manicure" from Dad this past week...I'm too scared I'll get her skin...and thankfully, she pretty much was asleep so that we didn't have too much trouble with her squirming and pulling her hand back.  Unfortunately, she already needs another trim/file...it just doesn't last very long at all!!

First Father's Day!

Last Sunday was Jon's first Father's Day, and we want to also say, "Happy Father's Day" to our own dads, Bob & Mike!  (yes, our dads did get a phone call on their day...not just a blog 'shout-out' a week later...)

We began the day sharing a very special moment with our friends, Ben & Christi, by attending the baptism of their son, Samuel.  We were honored to be included!  We had a great lunch at their place after the service and got to know some of their friends who also came out for the baptism.  We returned home for the afternoon, and Natalie and I gave Jon his gifts.  I got him the highly recommended book, "Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters," and Natalie had made him a stepping stone with her hand and footprints!  She fussed quite a bit making it with me, but it is really cute and a great way to capture how tiny she was at this time!  The rest of the day we relaxed at home and grilled dinner.  I know Jon felt like it was pretty surreal to be celebrating Father's Day, but I also know that being a dad comes quite naturally to him, and he's a wonderful dad for our little Natalie.  We are blessed!

Natalie discovers her mobile

Today our little missy was just out of whack and fussy fussy fussy.  She has been having trouble falling asleep as of late and so today when we wound up her mobile she actually cracked a smile while watching her zoo animals go round and round.  It was so cute I grabbed the cell phone and did a little video and during the video her eyes locked onto the camera and I couldn't help but start laughing!  This is official 1st video to be posted and is just over a minute long and sorry the sound did not turn out but it's still very funny!  (or at least we think so)
and no, the "nap" did not last too long or at all!  enjoy

Lake George, Colorado

Yesterday we photographed a family reunion at a mountain lodge up in Lake George Colorado and afterwards we got to have some fun (just the 3 of us) up in the mountains exploring the backcountry roads and the beautiful South Platte river.  It was about a 1.5 hours drive up in the mountains and it was plain beautiful!  Here are some of what we saw...

Grandpa Bob's Visit

Natalie got to meet her Grandpa Bob this weekend!  My dad came into town Thursday evening and just left today.  Natalie should feel very special that her grandpa spent his wedding anniversary here!  Happy 32nd, Mom & Dad!!  While here, we had a wedding in Estes Park, CO, and so Grandpa Bob got to be Natalie's sitter this past Sunday!  She had her first trip to Estes, and we enjoyed being in those beautiful mountains, lunch at The Egg & I, and saltwater taffy from The Taffy Shop!  We also made a quick visit into the National Park before needing to head back to Colorado Springs.  Thanks, Dad, for making the trip...it was great to have your help and spend time with you!
